Paul Signorelli has more than 20 years of experience working in positions requiring mentoring.

As executive director and fundraiser for a nonprofit theater group in the San Francisco Bay Area, he was mentored through the local chapter of the National Society of Fundraising Executives, then served as the chapter’s co-chair for that mentor program to match experienced fundraisers with those who would benefit from their experience.

As Director of Volunteer Services and Staff Training for the San Francisco Public Library, he has helped match librarians with graduate students earning their Master of Information and Library Science degree.

He has developed:

  • Procedures, a handbook, and forms (applications, tracking sheets, and time sheets) needed to support mentoring/intern programs.

  • Orientation and training programs which provide learning experiences for those being mentored.

  • Job/project descriptions for those being mentored.

  • Collaborative efforts among libraries providing mentoring opportunities for those considering careers as librarians.
